The 46th Résidence of the Festival de Cannes

Through February 15, 2024, the 46th Résidence of the Festival de Cannes will play host to five female directors and one male director who, over four and a half months, will live in Paris and receive personalized support in the writing of their first or second feature film screenplay. They are Meltse Van Coillie, Diana Cam Van Nguyen, Zhao Hao, Gessica Généus, Andréa Slaviček, and Asmae El Moudir, and they will be present in Cannes next May 14-25. Created by Pierre Viot and Gilles Jacob in 2000, this Villa Médicis of cinema, headed up at its debut by Sylvie Perras, then as of 2005 by Georges Goldenstern, is now directed by Stéphanie Lamome.

Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2024 Competition Open

Free to enter, the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards heralds the original voices that new twists on storytelling. The shortlisted filmmakers are flown to Los Angeles for an exclusive four-day event to gain a deep understanding the entire filmmaking process to move their careers forward. After a black-tie awards ceremony at the Cary Grant Theatre, the 30 successful filmmakers will be immersed in a four-day workshop program. The competition is open to global artists and independent filmmakers, with six categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Environment, Animation, Student and Future Format.

2024 Film Expo and Filmmaker Symposium

The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) has announced that the 2024 Film Expo and Filmmaker Symposium will be held in Los Angeles on March 11-14, at the AMC CityWalk IMAX Theatre and Universal City Hilton hotel. The Film Expo on March 11-12 will feature screenings of new films, films in production, projects in development, and an innovations session highlighting the results of the GSCA Camera Test Assessment. The Filmmaker Symposium will follow on March 13-14 and will provide in-depth insight into the unique nature of the giant screen filmmaking industry, from development and preproduction all the way through marketing and distribution. Other programming will be announced as it is confirmed. Registration and film submissions will open in November.
