Here’s a new TV series with a baffling question and movies about true loyalty. Which ones will you add to your must-watch list?

PALM ROYALE: MARCH 20, 2024 DEBUT

Palm Royale” is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, “Palm Royale” asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?” It is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.

Set during 1969, the series from creator Abe Sylvia and Apple TV+ stars Emmy and Academy Award nominee Kristen Wiig leading a cast with Oscar and Emmy winners Laura Dern and Allison Janney. Additionally, “Palm Royale” includes Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy and Kaia Gerber. Dern executive produces alongside Wiig with special guest stars including Bruce Dern and multiple award-winning Carol Burnett.

Palm Royale” will debut globally with the first three episodes on March 20, 2024, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 8.

ARTHUR THE KING: IN THEATERS NOW

Over the course of 10 days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. Based on an incredible true story, Arthur the King follows Light, desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes (Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman) for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.

Based on the book Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home by Mikael Lindnord, the screenplay was written by Michael Brandt. Simon Cellan Jones directed the film. Tucker Tooley, Mark Canton, Courtney Solomon, Tessa Tooley, Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson were producers. The cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ali Suliman, with Bear Grylls as Himself, and Paul Guilfoyle.

THE THROWBACK: SELECT THEATERS AND ON DEMAND

 

What happens when life is turned upside down? The Throwback explores this scenario and more:

A married couple, deep in the trenches of a midlife crisis, find their world thrown into hilarious turmoil when the under-appreciated and stressed-out “supermom” suffers a post-traumatic breakdown, causing her to regress to her wild, college-age party-girl self. While she teams up with the neighbor’s 19-year-old daughter to paint the town red, her bewildered husband must navigate the chaos at home.

The cast includes Justina Machado, Will Sasson, Greg Sulkin, Michelle Randolf with Bobby Lee. The film was written and directed by Mario Garcia and produced by Mario Garcia, Michael A. Alfieri and Doug Fox.

The Throwback is now in select theaters and available on demand.

 

 

 ORDINARY ANGELS: WORLD PREMIERE

Lionsgate recently hosted the world premiere of Ordinary Angels at the SVA Theatre in New York. Cast walked the red carpet including stars Hilary Swank, Alan Ritchson, Tamala Jones, Nancy Travis, Amy Acker, Drew Powell and Emily Mitchell. They were joined by filmmakers, including Director/Executive Producer Jon Gunn, Producers Jon Berg, Kevin Downes, and Andy Erwin, Executive Producer Rick Baker, Production Designer Nazgol Goshtashbpur and Costume Designer Heather Neale.

Based on a remarkable true story, Ordinary Angels centers on Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles and ordinary angels.
