For those of us who adore bookstores, news of Barnes & Noble’s relocation to a downsized space on Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia raised concern and curiosity. After the closure of other bookstores in the area, we wondered: Would this new destination still attract faithful book lovers who enjoyed visiting the store’s previous Rittenhouse Square neighborhood?

In a word: Yes!

Open Layout for Comfortable Book Browsing

Despite the elimination of Barnes & Noble’s popular cafe and a public restroom to discourage “lingering,” the new space has an open layout for comfortable browsing. With aisles that feel more spacious than in the previous store, the ability to roam freely around various sections is extremely appealing.

Sleekly Designed Displays of Popular Book Categories

The minute a visitor walks through the door of Barnes & Noble’s new store in Philadelphia, sleekly designed displays of popular book categories catch the eye. Careful thought was clearly put into each area, with the front sides of books calling out for further exploration.

Bright, Modern Presentation of Vinyl Records, Gifts and Journals

With the revived interest in vinyl records, visitors will enjoy a large area dedicated to these treasures at the new Barnes & Noble in Philadelphia. Along with a large selection of beautiful gifts and journals, book lovers will find many other items to make this stop worthwhile.
